FAIRY TAIL – Ch. 145

Leon: Er, how did Angel miss Lucy? It looked to me as if that shot was dead-on but somehow it curved out of the way. Was it the stellar spirits? Or something else? Bah, whatever. It looks like she and Natsu will have an adventure all by themselves soon. I’m surprised that Erza has already encountered Gerard. As I expected though he is without his memory and can only remember “Erza”. I’ve never liked these two together as a couple and I’m not about to start. Though it looks as if Cobra will soon interrupted this tearful reunion in the next chapter. Hey, I’m fine with that as long as Erza takes him out for poisoning her earlier in the arc.
Mahou Sensei Negima! – Ch. 259

Gene: The hell is going on. Fate is the third Averruncus? Rakan makes it sound as if he’s directly related to the “final” boss Nagi beat years ago. So many things unknown about our supposed main villain. And like I predicted last week, Rakan and Fate didn’t fight it out this chapter. Instead his girl squad came in and took his place. Rakan vs five panty-less little girls? Sounds like a good fight to me. So far they’re no match for Rakan. Hell they haven’t even put a scratch on his suit. Maybe Fate will have to intervene after all. With them in that alternate dimension, Rakan and Fate can get all out without worrying about causing a scene.
Leon: Like Gene, I had to go “What the hell?” myself at hearing about the third Averruncus thing. Granted it makes more sense than him being immortal but it still spun my brain around for a few seconds. I’m quite curious about the main villain now though. Obviously it isn’t Fate and we haven’t seen a glimpse of the man/woman running the show yet. In due time I suppose. Until then I’ll just laugh at Fate’s young girl squad coming to his aid and actually trying to throw down with Rakan. Honestly, they should have known their panties were going to be stolen via Rakan’s supreme Hi-Ougi. I’m also amazed that they actually think they’re a much for him. Silly girls. :p
Hajime no Ippo – Ch. 861

Gene: omgomgomg Vorg. Fuck yes, I love it whenever he gets panel time. And seeing him spar with Ippo’s next opponent was totally unexpected. I was expecting at least somebody in the same weight class lol. I don’t get why they had to go all the way to New York though. Plenty of boxers in the Oriental region. Well whatever. So the Indonesian featherweight champ vs the 1st ranked WBA Jr. lightweight. It’s already an interesting match without Vorg’s name in the mix. And as always Vorg looks impressive with the combinations and technique. I do applaud the newcomer’s speed, but if he manages to get a down on Vorg I don’t what I’ll think of this manga anymore. I understand the author wants to hype this guy up, but for a newcomer to be on equal terms with somebody who’s first ranked in the world and on top of that somebody who’s in a higher weight class… it doesn’t seem right.
Kimi no Iru Machi – Ch. 55

Gene: Dawwww. Eba looked so cute telling Haruto to take her to Kouyasai. Of course considering how there’s still Kotone and Kanzaki’s brother to worry about, one way or another this will blow up in Haruto’s face. Though I’m glad Haruto and Eba are finally talking again. It was a bit annoying seeing her avoid Haruto at every turn. So far things are building up nicely in this manga so for once I’m actually anticipating the next chapter.
Leon: After hellish few chapters it seems as if Haruto finally managed to catch a break. Kotone is looking mighty fine in her maid outfit and contacts. I thought she looked great in her glasses too though. Haruto still has to clear up that misunderstanding with her but if I were him I’m not sure what I’d do after her more recent behavior (oh god bloody finger suck). While Nanami-Suzuka version 1 is mostly missing in this chapter we do finally get to see Yuzuki finally not avoiding Haruto. It’s pretty funny that she did it because of a simple hand hold despite how touchy-feely she could be. Crazy girl. It’s almost a given though that Haruto is going to take her to Kouyasai. Well, unless his luck continues to spiral downward and someone (Kotone, Nanami, Nanami’s brother) interrupts the moment which I wouldn’t doubt happening at all given the track record of the manga up to this point.
Gamaran – Ch. 11

Leon: Gama is so awesome. Details about his movements is one of the small reasons I grew to like this manga so quickly. He isn’t using any hax or deus ex machina techniques but rather is using the limits of the human body. Granted this is still manga and certain things may still end up slightly exaggerated but for the most part nothing about Gama’s movement seemed impossible. Well, for a person with a very fit body anyway. Who can withstand a messed up arm and an arrow to the leg. :p Anyway, this element of Gamaran tends to excite me quite a lot since it adds to the realism of the fights. I’m pretty sure the archer is either dead or half-dead in the next chapter though. Unless someone saves him.
Great Teacher Onizuka: Shonan 14 Days – Ch. 7

Gene: Hmm in the end Onizuka didn’t own Miki or anything like that. I was hoping he would so he could stomp that arrogant attitude of hers, but the rooftop scene was pretty nice overall. I forgot Onizuka has moments like this as well. Though just when you think he pulled her over, daddy shows up and it looks like there’s still more work for Onizuka to do concerning her. At least we’re getting closer at this point. Next chapter: dramatic angst-filled pre-teen past!
