Great, great episode. Easily my favorite in the series so far, it also focuses a lot on Selvaria. Not only her but a new character named Carl and on Maximilian. I always love seeing the other side of a conflict because it shows me that they too live normal lives and are fighting for their own reasons which they believe to be right. This is especially true when it comes to Selvaria and Carl as well. A bit of Selvaria’s past was also shown which makes me wonder just how old Maximilian is and how much of her loyalty is out of duty and love (whichever kind it may be).

It looks like Maximilian has more problems than just taking over Gallia but also dealing with his jealous older brother. Even so, the assassination attempt was a great opportunity to show that he isn’t a pushover and can hold his own even with Selvaria not around. He’s not someone the Gallian forces are going to defeat with simple tactics or brute force alone. Lastly, Carl sure has the perfect job ahead of him. Being Selvaria’s aide beats out anything else I’d say! His life pretty much revolves around her for as long as they’re both alive. I wouldn’t mind seeing him around again in future episodes since he’s a pretty good guy.
