Hajime no Ippo – Ch. 887

Gene: Fucking finally. This better be the last round because I know that me and many others have been growing more and more impatient with this fight. The good news is that Ippo is moving on from this “touching” business and is going to put his all into this round. Seems as though Woli’s leg is affecting him more and more and it’s probably going to come to bite him in this final round. I have a hard time believing those taps Ippo delivered were effective body blows, but he managed to pull something off at least.

Leon: Will we finally see Ippo make his comeback? I honestly just can’t see him losing to this noob no matter how much he was beaten by him through the round. I think all he needs is one good full hit on Woli and he’ll know that Ippo’s strength is beyond what his imagination can comprehend. Well, at least I hope that’s what happens. I’m hoping that this really is the final round because I’m ready for a new arc.

FAIRY TAIL – Ch. 176

Leon: Damn. There’s some pretty messed up stuff in this chapter. Natsu and Wendy are held in prison while Lucy is scheduled for execution. I couldn’t figure out why she was singled out until the very end of the chapter. Of course, that also is connected to Happy and Charle’s mission: which was to initally kill their respective dragon slayers. The mission was then changed to their capture. I’m pretty sure that’s because the magic of dragon slayers must be really massive. So I imagine they are going to try and turn Natsu and Wendy into lacryma. Meanwhile Happy and Charle are pretty devastated over the revelation. Charle is in tears and Happy is suddenly uber pissed. He was so impressive that Charle has FINALLY called him by his name. Holy crap dude! What’s next? You gonna own them with your wings Happy? DO IT!

Kimi no Iru Machi – Ch. 82

Gene: I can’t help but think that Eba is being physically abused or something given that she won’t even show her face or see Haruto. Anyway, Haruto gave it a try and there’s no progress so far. Well at least we know Eba’s alive. Seeing Rin again was cool and she was rather considerate in this chapter not being a bitch or anything like she sometimes is. Well she could be up to something now, but I’ve been seeing her in a new light ever since her special chapter. Kazama is being a bro so far and is an excellent replacement for Takeshi back in Hiroshima. At this point I hope Asuka won’t simply be a replacement for Akari as Haruto’s friend because I think it would be better for Haruto to just forget Eba and go with Asuka. Actually I’d be pretty happy if this manga ended with anybody but Eba.

Leon: I’m not sure what to think here but I didn’t think of the possibility of Eba being abused until Gene mentioned it. I’m not sure if it’s that serious of a situation though. If it does turn out to be along those lines though I’ll just simply go “bwah? o_o” when it’s revealed. She must have a really good reason to be doing all this. Anyway, the rest of the chapter was pretty standard stuff but I found it to be enjoyable. Kazama is a pretty cool guy to have as a friend and Asuka is pretty entertaining, especially when she goes tsuntsun with her accent. I wonder when/if she’ll start to develop feelings for Haruto?

Gamaran – Ch. 40

Leon: SHIN FOR THE WIN. I had my doubts in the last chapter but after seeing his quick draw decapitation it has all disappeared. I wasn’t exactly sure how strong he was before this chapter but it seems like he’s more than capable of taking on multiple opponents. I’m really looking forward to seeing his fight with the Murderous Blade. The other thing that I’m looking forward to is Gama and Zenmaru’s upcoming battle with the Myoujin school. Naoyoshi says he’s ready to kill his brothers to win this tournament. I wonder, does that include this younger brother he seemed to be close with in the past?

Cage of Eden – Ch. 25-29

Gene: My face when it was revealed that Miina is actually a guy:

Oh shit. Mass release. I haven’t read Cage of Eden in a while so a few chapters is just what I needed to get back into the Lord of the Flies groove again. Lots of surprises such as the whole trap ordeal with Miina and the attempted gang rape on Towa. The latter made me rage just because they couldn’t keep it in their pants for only 10 days. Well they got what they deserved at the end and I found myself cheering when those hyenas came and slaughtered the bunch. After that little arc finished up, the focus is now moving towards Kouhei and his secret killstreak. Seems Hades is still trolling the hell out of him and Kouhei even got a new recruit fledged under him. I wonder how far he’s spread the crazy around in that group of his. I can’t see how he would be able to convince anybody unless they were already fucked up in the head to begin with. In any case, Kouhei is beyond redemption at this point so I’m expecting him to die by the end of this arc. I’m not expecting Sengoku to land the finishing blow though. Given how things work on this island, some random animal will pass by out of nowhere and eat him.

Leon: Loved the mass release of this. It’s been a long while since we’ve had any Cage of Eden but the good ol’ pals who’ve been regularly scanlating it came through. Going along with Gene I’d say I was pretty “BWA?” when Miina revealed she was a he. The other reveal was quite the disgusting one which involved why Towa died: because she was gang raped. Absolutely disgusting. At least the bastards got their just deserts in the end. Moving along it seems Akira will soon have to confront Kouhei and his minion who have been killing their classmates just to hide the secret of his initial murder. I’m not sure what Akira will be able to do given that the guy is his best friend but I don’t expect any “YOU ARE MY FRIEND” declarations coming out here like another shounen manga would pull out.

~Good Ending~ – Ch. 25-26

Gene: Oh god. It’s amazing how quickly Utsumi became a fag again. Before these chapters, I honestly thought he developed a bit but it feels like it’s been reset with this development. And I couldn’t help but lol at him saying the “please hold my hand” line as if he was about to cry. Really pathetic, bro. Well at least he didn’t wig out when Kurokawa’s cousin nailed him especially when he sincerely apologized. But still, he’s going to have to work really hard to gain back those points he lost from me.

Leon: WOW. What the heck. Utsumi gets shot down again. He really can’t catch a break, huh? First he’s dumped by Shou before they could even go out on a date and now Yuki shoots him down after using all the courage he has to hold her hand. Oh! And he gets slugged by Yuki’s punk cousin. Madness, I tell you. Absolute madness. Seriously, I know that Yuki is still somehow hung up on her past with this Tooru guy but is it so bad that she couldn’t give a really good guy like Utsumi a chance? Whatever happened in the past must have been pretty devastating and I’m hoping we get to see it soon. Where does Utsumi and Yuki go from here, though?
