Bakemonogatari ep. 14

About time, SHAFT. It amazes me how much the studio can make fun of themselves over this while they are cockblocking everybody from Bakemonogatari. They’re lucky the DVD/BD sales are through the effin’ roof, which is mostly due to “missing footage.” Well, Tsubasa Cat Part 4 finally came purring about, and it’s just as incomplete as the rest. Who didn’t see this coming? Anyway, I didn’t really get the feeling this was about Tsubasa again. This was more like tagging along with Tsubasa while searching for Shinobu. It’s like they’ll worry about her problem later since they’ve had experience with it before; what matters first is finding a donut-loving vampire. Oshino was awfully shady this episode. Wonder what’s up with that guy? What Araragi says about him may very well be true. So it was really great to see brief appearances by the girls. Sweet, little Mayoi-chan, Nadeko (in a luscious nightgown, dammit), and Tsuruga (who happens to have the etiquette of a bitter ex-girlfriend). Finally Hitagi gets a brief moment as she gives Araragi (and other fanatics) some tsundere service. You know, it doesn’t seem all that natural when she tells us what it is.
Maybe Araragi should leave the search to them while he focuses on helping Black Hanekawa. On the other hand, I can’t help but have the same reaction he had when she started “nyaaa”-ing all over the place. Hocchan must’ve loved that. Interestingly enough, her demeanor the whole time reminded me of Cheshire from Alice in Wonderland. Always grinning, disappearing, and then reappearing next to you everywhere, speaking catspeak, being cute and cuddly. All she needs now is a lovely top hat. I should have seen this last bit coming. Tsubasa has a fever and the only cure is Araragi’s love. The last bit with Hitagi snapping those scissors just gave it that much more impact. Now Araragi’s cornered. What do you think he should do?
No telling when the next and final webisode will be, but expect more delays and stalling from SHAFT. ‘Til next time.
