Episode 6 was just a really great episode overall and one of the reasons I loved it was that the focus was mainly on the interactions and relationship between Chiaki and Nodame. I can’t remember the last time we got this much screentime of those two together like that due to them being busy in Paris (Chiaki with the Roux-Marlet and Nodame with her studies), but seeing it after what seemed like a while was adorable. Thanks to their time together, Nodame is growing more appreciative towards music and more than ever she feels like she doesn’t want to lget left behind after it was revealed that Rui will be taking on the Ravel piece. There was quite a bit classical music commentary which was nice considering what the show is about, but it wasn’t too interesting in the long run I’ll admit.

Tanya gets over herself and tells Kuroki that she’s sorry. She’s not planning to move in with him yet and but at least she has her motivation back. And Yun Long was able to shed a little light as to why Tanya didn’t advance in the competition which I stated in a previous post as confusing. Basically she was indulging herself in her playing which I can somewhat understand better. The judges made it sound like she was dressed too slutty at the competition or something.

So Auclair does have plans for Nodame to enter a competition soon. I don’t know if he was expecting her rapid development, but that’s a good move given her rising progress and interest in music portrayed through these last couple of episodes. Chiaki is back in the game after homesitting Nodame for the last few days and is getting ready for his performance with Rui. While I was disappointed (and surprised) that Nodame won’t be performing the Ravel piece with Chiaki first, I can’t deny that I’m pretty excited about the upcoming performance with this talented pair. While Nodame probably is more suited for the piece, both pianists offer something different to the table and I know Rui will give a splendid performance.
