Ahh, I get it. So the ending sequence also works as the preview. I thought those were just random scenes collected throughout the show. I still say its lazy though. In any case, episode 2 was pretty Rui-centered with her troubles with her mother and Professor Auclair. The mother problem is the basic “parent wants to live her dreams through her child” scenario. I’m not too sure what it is with Auclair though. Maybe he’s trying to help Rui grow mentally (or spiritually?) and I know it’s been explored before that one’s mentality can affect a performance. I have a feeling both problems will tie into each other. For now, she’s going to Chiaki for comfort and it looks like she hasn’t given up on him yet.

And of course, Rui gets flat out rejected lol. She’s simply adorable though so I’m hoping she doesn’t get a ronery end. Nothing scandalous happened between the two and Chiaki gave her the strength to move on. Her mom problem is patched for now and she’s back to performing. The second half of the episode was Nodame-centered and it had me intrigued throughout. First, Chiaki ditching Nodame for Vierra? The hell! There were boobs waiting for you over there, mang! That predicament reminded me of what Chiaki’s mom said to him earlier about how he could end up losing her if he’s not careful. Foreshadowing ftw~ But I felt for Nodame as Chiaki was the one person she wanted to perform for at that salon and he wasn’t there. Despite that, I’m really proud that her emotions did not get in the way of her playing. She has really matured over time and it showed here.

If anything, Shinichi hasn’t seen Vierra for years, so I guess it’s understandable. And I don’t think Nodame will take it much against Shinichi considering that at least, it’s not another girl, although a broken promise is still not a good thing.

But the thing is that Chiaki texted Nodame saying something work related popped up. I don’t how she would feel if he said that he ditched her debut to hook up with his old teacher again. I agree it’s understandable to a certain extent, but Chiaki could have joined him for practice at another time. I think he felt this was something like a once in a lifetime opportunity and had to take it.

The ED always inserted previews for the next episode since the first season.
