Naruto – Ch. 480

Leon: Evil bugger! How could he even consider going through Karin just to kill off Danzou? Karin better not be dead! She’s one of the only reason I can pay attention to any Akatsuki/Hebi/Hawk/whatever scenes. Who didn’t see Sasuke’s genjutsu revelation coming though? I sure did! Anyway, like Youko said, may the next Hokage please stand up? Kakashi?! May as well give Naruto his chance now!

Youko: lol Karin. I honestly hope whatever happened at the end really happened because Karin is a useless Sakura version 2 while everyone hates Danzou’s guts. Well, even if Danzou manages to survive, at least one person will get the axe. Sasuke had him in his genjutsu all along. Big surprise there… So! Who’s gonna be the 7th Hokage? Any guesses?

Bleach – Ch. 390

Leon: This chapter was nothing but blatant Aizen-glorification. It’s as if Kubo was trying to convince us that Aizen pretty much owns everyone present and using Gin of all people. I thought it was all obvious by now? As it stands they’re pretty much fighting a hopeless fight and I doubt even Ichigo will be able to do anything of importance. That’s assuming no plotkai is used, of course.

Youko: Another minute’s worth of progress. And just like before, no one can even touch Aizen. I really have nothing to say about this chapter except they really should have just powered up like three volumes ago and then took him on, you know? They don’t have a Hyperbolic Time Chamber in Bleach, do they?

One Piece – Ch. 572

Gene: lol I swear Luffy and Bon-chan did that same exact pose in the Impel Down arc. Anyway, it’s great seeing Ace up and fighting. He’s been kneeling up on that platform for way too long and I know he’s been itching to get a piece of Marine action. But what the hell! The joyous moment is cut short as Whitebeard announces his final command. I don’t want to see the greatest pirate of his era dead, but I have to say that there need to be more people biting the dust in this war.

Leon: Seeing Luffy and Ace fight back to back is so awesome. If those two were in the same crew I imagine they’d raise a lot of hell for the Marines every chance they got. It looks as if Whitebeard is really planning to go down taking out as many Marine forces as possible though. If he thinks his era is over he could just go on vacation instead of going all-out and dying. Just saying. I’d be really surprised if Oda really does let him die.

Hunter x Hunter – Ch. 294

Gene: So Palm was being controlled. And I don’t know if they actually turned her into an ant or not, but the Royal Guards did perform some sort of experiment on her. Killua’s emotions broke through to her and she tells Pufu to fuck off. Very nice. And this chapter ends like the last one with Knuckle still confronting Pufu. Hopefully the direction goes that way since they’re a few feet away from Gon and Pitou who I’m more anxious to see. A return to Netero vs the King wouldn’t be bad either though.

Katekyou Hitman Reborn! – Ch. 275

Leon: Lol Byakuran. He’s quite overpowered at the moment and Tsuna is having a ton of trouble. Everyone else is rendered useless since Byakuran is using the flames that Ghost absorbed from them. As a result the situation is looking pretty bleak unless someone interrupts. Like say, Reborn, maybe?

PSYREN – Ch. 104

Leon: “Black Amamiya”, is it? I guess that’s the most accurate way to refer to her. She’s pretty awesome and I really like the way she fights and behaves. I’m a bit surprised that she seems to be heads-over-heels in love with Yoshina though. It makes me wonder if the original Amamiya has similar feelings. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next though now that she is in the same room with Yoshina and Matsuri who are all about to take out Yusaka.

Bakuman – Ch. 71

Youko: The competition starts now! This chapter was full of the best expressions I’ve seen yet. There was confidence, excitement, exhaustion, determination, and shock. Looks like things are looking up for the mangaka that are getting serialized in Jump. That’s the good news. The bad news is Ashirogi’s got a foot up their ass. I know Hattori is trying to give the two motivation to make their manga better, but it almost feels like it’ll backfire and he’ll screw them over. Eiji’s gonna run two series in Jump at the same time and that’s gonna have a huge impact on mangaka and readers alike. At this rate, he’ll be the #1 mangaka in Jump in no time, which means his proposal of axing one manga he hates? Sayonara, Tanto! Well, I doubt it; that would be so sad. I already got a kick out of Miura’s exhausted face when he told Ashirogi they got serialized. I swear, I think Obata’s style is become more like western comics, not that it’s terrible or anything. I actually enjoy the exaggeration.

Leon: So the competition between all the mangakas have reignited and madness is abound. The main insanity is that Eiji now has two series running in Jump. If he’s able to handle it all (and it seems like a breeze at this point) then there’s nothing stopping him from being number one with both Crow and +Natural thanks to Iwase. Tanto is intriguing and all but for some reason I don’t feel as if it will do well against the other offerings. It will be interesting to see if I’m proven wrong though.

Gene: Ewww. Tanto got serialized. Might as well I suppose. Ashirogi seemed intent on that series no matter what. I give it six months before it gets cancelled. Or they might just end it themselves. I don’t see that shit being able to compete with the Iwase-Eiji duo at all. Plus the duo has Hattori and he’s a high-tier editor. And let’s face it Miura is shit-tier. Well at least Shuujin is getting married. That is a good thing, right? In any case, the upcoming manga competition should interesting with Ashirogi back in the game and Eiji handling two series at once. Who will conquer the reader polls this time around?

Beelzebub – Ch. 46

Gene: lawl Boston Crab. I have to say that that was one hell of a fight. And it got so out of control that even Oga couldn’t handle Beel anymore. Good thing the long-haired guy appeared. I don’t know who he is, but this guy’s strength is insane. It finally feels like we’ve entered serious territory in this arc. All these no name demons have been disappointing and I’m glad to see that we’ve just scratched the surface for this world. Also, Furuichi’s little display was hilarious. All according to keikaku, eh?

Leon: Hahaha! Beelzebub’s humor never gets old. The fight was pretty epic and I loved all the wrestling moves. Oga was getting pretty worked up and even he eventually lost control of Beel. He’s a pretty tough guy to survive a fall from that high though! This new guy has some pretty crazy strength as well. If he’s an enemy then Oga is going to be in serous trouble but this is probably what he needs to grow. Furuichi was pretty funny in this chapter though. That pose he was holding kind of reminded me of Lelouch for some reason.

Medaka Box – Ch. 35

Leon: Whoa, whoa! Medaka confessing that she really likes Zenkichi? How adorable. The timing took me by surprise even though the revelation itself isn’t surprising. Sucks that Zenkichi didn’t hear it though. This chapter really taught me one thing: I should read up on disarming rocket launchers. After all someone could suddenly pull one of those on me some day. I really thought that the fight was over as well but I should have figured whatever-his-name-is had one last ace up his sleeve. I find it a bit hard to believe that he still has more weapons available to use though.

Gene: Awesome. So Medaka finally makes a delaration about Zenkichi. Her feelings towards him were apparent, but I liked that she actually said it out loud. Anyway, so the main focus of this chapter was Zenkichi vs. what’s his face. The double handguns proved pointless against him, along with the other several dozen armed weapons that guy pulled out. Hell, he even brought out a fucking rocket launcher, but unfortunately for him Zenkichi read up on how to disarm one in case of this ever happening. I should study up on that as well. You’ll never know when somebody will pull one of those babies out. The fight seemed like it was over, but as soon as Zenkichi let his guard down he gets nailed. And I have to say that the portrayal of that scene was rather weak. I couldn’t feel the intensity that the author wanted to show. It’s just the way it was drawn out. Like it could have been a lot more, but it came out flat.

You guys should read OP as soon as possible. I’m about to shed manly tears.

I agree with Youko. Karin was just a second, albeit somewhat bitchier, version of Sakura. She was completely superfluous. I might have actually cared what happened to her if Kishimoto had made her a more unique/interesting character.

And I’ll admit that, while I hated Danzo, I really was rooting for him in this fight. Now I’m disappointed that he lost. His flashback in the most recent chapter made me warm up to him a little too.

Tanto being serialized was disappointing to me too, especially in light of Niizuma getting such an awesome manga in the works to go along with Crow.

My guess is probably along the same line, with Tanto being cancelled not long after serialization. Either that, or Ashirogi attempts at two series simultaneously, which is impossible given Mashiro’s track record and past health concerns.
