Oh my. That was quite the interesting first episode, I must say. Much different from anything else I’m currently blogging. At first we’re shown what happened in the first series, Kiddy Grade, with Éclair and Lumière saving all of humanity. Then we’re immediately taken to the future/present and are introduced to Ascoeur and Q-feuille. I’m not even going to beat around the bush here character-wise but I already see that quite a few people are going to be annoyed with Ascoeur. Granted I’m not one of them but I can see where some might not appreciate her voice or attitude. Too bad for them, eh? =P Q-feuille is easily the more reserved and mature of the two. I’m quite curious about her since when the action started up she didn’t really do much aside from providing a smoke screen whereas Ascoeur pulled out a comb-lightsaber and used some pretty sweet teleporting abilities. I have a feeling she probably wasn’t as focused as she could be due to the running no-panties joke throughout the episode. Though they both may still be trainees I’d like to see him become full-fledged ES members soon so that they can showcase their abilities unrestrained.

As far as the production-values go they are pretty topnotch with Satelight at the helm with the animation. The character models in particular are very attractive, especially the Director if you ask me. The music is good but I haven’t really heard anything special yet. The OP/ED songs were fun to listen to as well but again aren’t really anything spectacular.

While not the best debut this season it still was quite entertaining. I’m hoping that the second episode is much better though. Then again, Wakamoto Norio is narrating. So there is no way the show won’t turn out to be awesome, right? Additionally, it would be awesome if Éclair and Lumière returned in some form during the course of the series since I don’t think they’re dead but until then I’ll just have to see what Ascoeur and Q-feuille will bring to the table. Other than panties and naked butts of course.
