This was mainly a Mari-centered episode which I was expecting to come into play in this show sooner or later. So basically, she hears word about her hometown getting caught up in fires and she immediately starts to lose herself, worrying frantically about her family. It seemed for a moment that she was neglecting Mirai and Yuki but that quickly changed with one smile. Unfortunately a fever has suddenly come upon Mari and she collapses later on. I have a sneaking suspicion that the fever was caused due to yesterday’s cold winter night. Looks like somebody wasn’t sharing their blanket. But in any case I don’t blame neither of the two children, but since Mirai woke up extra early I would have expected that she at least covered Mari up. Oh well. Mirai managed to not be annoying at all this episode so I’ll cut her some slack. Hell, she and Yuki even went as far as lending a scooter for her. Mirai better calm down there before I actually start liking her as a character.

Another pleasant surprise was seeing a new character who I was able to instantly recognized being voiced by Nonoka Ai. I don’t really have any firm impression of her besides being the clumsy and kind type. Mari’s biker flashback was cool just because seeing a flustered teenage Mari was awesome. And while random at first, I was glad seeing it come back to the resolution of the episode which was Mari’s decision to stay with the kids. I don’t know if it was the best decision, but I think all will be fine since I have feeling it’s something she won’t regret.

Until now I was only thinking about Mirai and Yuuki’s parents. I think the question I’d ask now is, “What is the fate of Mari’s daughter and mom?”
